Casa Babi : We Care

We are very proud to be one of the first in Mozambique who was certified as a Fair Trade operator by Fair Trade Tourism South Africa.
This came as a reward to our commitment to the development of the local community and, even more so, to the environmental conservation.
Ever since we started Casa Babi and Odyssea Dive everything was planned and implemented with these 2 objectives in mind.

  • Our staff was hired with no previous working experience and fully trained by us.

  • All furniture was produced by local artists using local material.

  • Our rooms are designed to be naturally ventilated and cool in order to avoid air-con.

  • We use solar geysers, recycle our refuse, produce our compost and do our best to use as less plastic as possible.

  • Amenities are provided using re-usable containers and the toiletries are organic (see Bathroom pages)

  • We implement a strict NO SINGLE USE PLASTIC policy by using re-useable bags and baskets for our shopping, promoting the drinking of our water, using paper bags for the bins.

  • We pursue the objective of limiting our waste as much as possible.

  • Food is locally sourced as much as possible, including our coffee, coming from the Gorongosa National Park.

  • In the street and on the beach we installed trash bins that we maintain and clean, hoping that our neighbors will use them instead of throwing their refuse on the beach.

Since 2016 we’ve been supporting a local association – ParCo – that works on education and environmental projects.

  • We regularly support their extensive Beach Clean Up days with donations.

  • We support their School Access Kits project by donating a percentage of every night booked at Casa Babi to the projectParCo identifies kids in our neighborhood who cannot afford to go to school only because they cannot buy the basic supplies they need. Through your bookings you allow us to buy uniforms, bags, basic school supplies and pay the tuition fees so that these kids have a chance to go to school.

  • If you would like to know more about their projects in Vilanculos you can have a look at parcomz.com

  • If you wish to donate, you can :
